Now that you have found resources, read them critically, made notes and then used these to plan your essay, it's time to put this all together and start your assignment.

It's important to make sure that you keep the module guide (instructions for the class) close by so that you can check things like the due date, word length and any guidelines on format. Most importantly, however, you need to make sure that you have the essay or assignment question nearby so that you know exactly what you have been asked to do. You can even write this at the top of the paper that you will be writing on to help you stay focused.

Good academic writing is clear, formal, uses evidence and is easy to understand. You might be explaining quite complicated ideas in your essay, so it's really important that you help anyone reading your assessment understand by using as clear language as possible. A great way to do this is to focus on having a clear structure, to make sure you have included a strong introduction and conclusion and write sentences and paragraphs make sense and link together logically. This unit will suggest ways to help you ensure you have all these important components of any assignment in place.
